Great leaders know how to refine their essence and purpose and communicate it to others in the most pure, convincing and captivating way.
Normal is boring
Have you ever been in a place you've never been before, yet it feels familiar? Have you heard these speeches, seen that presentation, and definitely tasted that bland sandwich before? Well, that happens too often to companies that organize conferences without considering the story they want to tell. If you organize a conference without thinking about the purpose of bringing people together, the messages you want to convey, and the path that led your company to this point, you might find your audience becoming disengaged, busy with other thoughts, walk out on the event and leave without any meaningful experience. We believe that the key to a successful conference is a story. Yes, a story. Throughout history, humans have loved stories. A good story has structure and content, a beginning, middle, and end, a progress that holds our attention and makes us want to see how it concludes. So, think carefully about your story and build the conference around it. Are you celebrating something? Launching a new product or service? Rebranding or marking a milestone for your business? The ability to share your story with the audience in an engaging way will draw them closer to you and leave them with a meaningful memory from the event.
The ability to narrate your story and your business's story will help engage employees, suppliers, and customers, making them feel like a genuine part of the business’s vision.
Expect the unexpected
A successful conference involves many elements working together, and each part needs to be at its best. Take, for example, choosing the venue for the event. Opting for a hall? Excellent choice, but it means nothing if you haven't checked if the access routes are convenient, there are enough parking spaces, it's accessible for people with disabilities, there's good air conditioning, satisfactory acoustics, strong and stable internet, and, of course, the hall accommodates the number of guests you've invited. Too large, and it will look empty; too small, and it will be crowded and uncomfortable. But that's just the tip of the iceberg; the real challenge is anticipating the unexpected because things tend to get complicated. A conference is a complex machine composed of many small parts, and if one part fails, the entire machine may stop working. So rely only on yourselves, double and triple-check, and know exactly how the conference will look well before it starts. Before deciding on a location, see how it functions in real-time, visit during another event, listen to the sounds, look for malfunctions in the system, and most importantly, prepare a Plan B in advance for any scenario that may arise.
from our experience, we know that the ability to stand in front of an audience and confidently convey your message is a skill that can be developed and perfected.
Think big
In this time and age, we can confidently say that we live in a global society where physical and geographical distance no longer hold the significance they once did. Why is it relevant? Because a conference consists of people: speakers, participants, and guests. The people who make up these groups will determine the way the conference goes. Carefully consider the composition of your speakers and participants. Remember that you want to create interest, adding value to the story you chose to tell. Therefore, it's essential to choose the right storytellers. Think out of the box, and think big, as big as your budget allows, and don't compromise on speakers due to location or distance. You may lose a significant portion of quality candidates if you do. This is exactly what the hybrid conference was born for, where speakers and presenters can participate from their location, be it local or global. But it's not only the speakers; there are always those who can't physically attend, or important clients from abroad that you wish to invite. So, having the option for a virtual participation in the conference is a goal that we at Leave a Mark can fulfill.
